Carlos Beltran is a San Francisco Giant this morning. The New York Mets are two games over 500 and they have traded away one of their best players. Are they giving up on this season and rebuilding for next year?
Who benefits the most from this deal., Mets or Giants? Well, the Mets have a potentially great prospect coming and he will help as they rebuild. The Giants on the other hand have gotten a player to help then now. With the Diamondbacks not wilting in the summer heat, the Giants got the big bat they needed to help them win their division and probably head back to the World Series.
A Giant Step For Beltran
Is the trade of Carlos Beltran to the Giants a “giant” step for Beltran? If you are a Mets fan or a Giants fan- please share your thoughts? Are trades weakening the balance of power between the two divisions? Sometimes trades make one division stacked with all the good teams and another division has such bad teams that a division winner could win less than 100 games. Please add your comments.
Baseball 2011 Season Now In Full Swing
The 2011 Major League Baseball Season is in full swing. Stadiums are full of life and excitement all over the country as fans show up to cheer for their teams. They know everybody is starting at zero and have the opportunity to chart their course, which they all hope will lead to the world series in 0ctober.
Similarly, everyday we get up with an opportunity to chart our course for the day based on the goals we have set. If we have no goals we will waste the day and miss our destination.
Opening day was Thursday, and by Friday all teams should have played at least one game. Some teams opened away from home and it’s not clear if for some that was good or bad.
The Mets started the season like how they ended last season- they lost. The Florida Marlins is a good team and they seem to have the Mets number. The Phillies had a nice come from behind win over Houston and looked pretty good. Another team I had my eyes on was Boston Red Sox. Thank goodness Texas beat them.
Since I am a Yankee fan, I am very pleased that Boston lost. My hope is for a New York Yankees win in the Bronx this afternoon.
Of course, it is by no means any indication on how the season is going to go, but it is good to start on a winning note. Enjoy the games today.
Mets World or Mess World
How many people are scratching their heads about what is going on in Mets world. If you are not even a baseball fan but a New Yorker, you want to see your home teams do well. I am a Yankee fan, but I would love to see another subway series. However, with the mess that the Mets are in right now who knows what will happen?
How is it the Phillies, the Yankees and the Red Sox can maintain their stability and others can’t? Here is the life lesson to take away from the Mets situation, because things look bad and you’re in a mess right now, it does not mean you quit before you even start. Get in the game and play.
If you play you have a chance of winning. If you don’t play you have no chance of winning. Are you in a mess- get up and go play.
Mets Need Money
The news which broke yesterday about the Mets is not good. It was widely circulated last season that the Mets had allegedly lost millions in the Madoff scheme.
now the Mets are looking for a part owner, someone to come in with some money to stabilize the organization. It is not a bad business idea. So who could be the likely suspects? Probably Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, probably Nets billionaire owner, Prokhorov and maybe Donald Trump. They all have money, they are astute businessmen, and they have high visibility and credibility. It is too early to use the Nets as an example, but look at what Mark Cuban did with the Dallas Mavericks. Then if you have watched The Apprentice, been to The Trump Tower, the Trump Hotels and been to the men’s department in any Macy’s store, you know the power if the Trump brand. It’s one word that just trumps you.
Anyway, these people have what it takes. Hopefully the Mets will be able to at least slide into home plate if they can’t hit a home run.
Have a great weekend. Do you realize that very soon it will be spring training.
