This is graduation season. From kindergarten to university it’s time for the caps and gowns and for those who supported the graduates throughout the year to cheer them on. If you are part of the class of 2011 – Congratulations on persevering to the end. You made it!
The rainy weather did not deter thousands of families and friends from coming out to cheer on the graduating class of 2011 from Columbia University. The rain was “nagging’ but photographers, parents, grand parents, friends and well wishers packed the south lawn at Columbia University yesterday morning for day one of the two day commencement.
It was an extraordinary event with extraordinary speeches from graduates as well as guests. Columbia certain lived up to its billing as one of the most renown institutions of higher learning, and one where excellence is the standard by which everything is done. Yesterday was day one of the two day 2011 Commencement for Columbia University. The guest speaker was the head of NBC and she was brief and eloquent. In her speech she urged the graduates to find the clues along their path to what they are really called to do. She said when she was in kindergarten her teacher told her parents that she was very curious. That curiosity took her to London and all over the world. She went to places her mother told her not to go, for example, homes of drug dealers, (to gather the news of course), and today she heads NBC. She followed the clues along the way.
What clues are you following on your way to fulfilling your destiny? No experience in your life will be wasted. Embrace the good, the bad, and the ugly as they are clues along your path to greatnes. Today is the final day when everybody comes together in front of the famous Columbia Library. The rain is on again, but rain or shine the show will go on. Congratulations again to the class of 2011.
