Daylight Saving Time Not Saving Any Time
Depending on the part of the world you are living in, you should have set your clocks and watches one hour ahead before you went to bed. Today, March 13 marks another season of Daylight Saving Time (DST). As the saying goes, “Spring Forward and Fall back.” That means we go 1 hour forward today and that means we lost one precious hour of sleep.
The idea of daylight saving time is a good one, but somehow it does not seem to be saving us much energy based on studies. Yet, we continue to spring forward. One good thing about DST is that we know spring is near.
The other part of the issue is that many people are just not getting enough sleep. People are staying up later than usual and when the time changes, particularly when we lose one hour of sleep, it just adds to our stress.
The best way to stay on top of the sleep issue is to make sure you go to bed an hour earlier tonight. Even if you do not sleep right away, try to get into bed and let your body relax and in no time you will be fast asleep. Make sure if you have children you get them in bed early tonight so they can be ready for school tomorrow morning.
